Boston Marathon Day! #BOSTONSTRONG

The Boston Marathon is today, such a historic and magnificent event that occurs annually. As a Massachusetts-based organization we are truly proud to be from this city and provide care in this city.

To give you a brief history for the few who do not know about the Boston Marathon and the legacy it holds. It began in April 19, 1897, the first Boston Marathon is run in Boston, Massachusetts. John J. McDermott of New York ran the 24.5-mile course of the all-male event in a winning time of 2:55:10. The first modern marathon was held at the 1896 Olympics in Athens.

The Boston Marathon is an annual marathon hosted by several cities in greater Boston in eastern Massachusetts, United States. It is always held on Patriots’ Day. The Boston Marathon is the world’s oldest annual marathon and ranks as one of the world’s best-known road racing events. It is one of six World Marathon Majors, and is one of four major events held in the United States through the years of both World Wars (Kentucky Derby, Rose Parade, and Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show are the others).Since 1897, the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has managed this event. Amateur and professional runners from all over the world compete in the Boston Marathon each year, braving the hilly Massachusetts terrain and varying weather to take part in the race. The event attracts 500,000 spectators each year, making it New England’s most widely viewed sporting event.[3] Though starting with 18 participants in 1897, the event now attracts an average of about 30,000 registered participants each year, with 30,251 people entering in 2015. The Centennial Boston Marathon in 1996 established a record as the world’s largest marathon with 38,708 entrants, 36,748 starters, and 35,868 finishers.

Now do you see why Boston people are so proud of their city?

For Art of Care, Inc.; the Boston Marathon is hits even closer to the heart than most. Unfortunately after the tragic bombings that occurred in 2013, many were injured mentally and physically. Art of Care stepped in and provided home health care to a few victims and feels truly honored to have done so.

This day not only makes us proud of how strong our city has always been, but even so after the bombings. Massachusetts is #BOSTONSTRONG !!!

Good luck to all the runners today and may it be everything you worked for.
