Drink More Water!

Studies have proven that as we go up in age, so does our weight.  This is for several different reasons, arthritis that discourages exercising and diabetes being among the leaders.  There is a very simple, and often over looked way to keep your weight down.  No diet pills, no boot camp type exercises.  It’s something that our bodies need, but never get enough of: water.  Drinking water before and with your meals will help in cutting back portion sizes.  As Americans, it is no secret that our portion sizes are well above what we are truly supposed to be.  Water will help quell your appetite and reduce caloric intake to a more reasonable number.  Health.com shares the study below.

Trying to Lose Weight? Drink More Water?

MONDAY, August 23 (Health.com) — Forget diet pills and cleanses. A new study suggests that an effective weight-loss aid is available straight from your kitchen sink.

Drinking two 8-ounce glasses of water before breakfast, lunch, and dinner while also cutting back on portions may help you lose weight and keep it off for at least a year, according to research presented today at the annual meeting of the American Chemical Society, in Boston.

“As part of a prudent, low-calorie weight-loss diet, adding water may help with weight-loss success,” says Brenda Davy, PhD, the lead author of the study and an associate professor of nutrition at Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg.
